Before working with the Become Internationally Known program two years ago, Artist Beata Marczak had big dreams…  But struggled to find a consistent rhythm or the balance she craved. She would procrastinate on some things…  And then force others to move along too quickly. This process was exhausting. She needed a clear vision and path forward. Fast forward to today: Beata successfully completed a solo exhibition… 15 group exhibitions… And sold over 45 paintings. Not just that, she is now recognized by an enthusiastic group of collectors and her local community.

Before she joined the Become Internationally Known community two years ago, she was lugging her $30 prints and cards to farmers markets around Nova Scotia just to cover the cost of the table she sold them on. She was working paycheck to paycheck and couldn’t see the way out. 

Fast forward to this year: She celebrated her first $30,000 sales *month* and flew her first $14,000 commission from Nova Scotia to Portugal to deliver it.

Jeff Brackett has always been different. His mind had always been busy with more ideas than he could keep up with. He felt frustrated and overwhelmed in his studio. Jeff learned to slow down. He embraced having too many ideas to keep up with as a gift. He developed a set of beautiful mantras to guide him over the eight months he’s spent in the Become Internationally Known program. His favourite mantra: “This is just the beginning.”

Spotlight Artist: Amanda Ross-McDonald

Artist Amanda Ross-McDonald dissatisfaction spilled over into her personal life, and she found herself in the midst of angry outbursts with her husband. She found it harder and harder to repress the full expression of her authentic self. It was time to break up with her job and get good at listening to herself. She joined the Become Internally Known community and began to do just that. And it paid off in spades. Today she works in a dedicated studio for her artwork and completes new paintings every week, a total of 23 so far!

In previous years, Sarah-Kay Franck struggled to spend a weekend in the studio every few months or during school holidays. The lockdown provided an opportunity to reflect on this. She realized that being an artist was foundational to who she is… And decided to make it a more pressing matter.

Seven months into the Become Internationally Known program, Sarah-Kay now works six hours a day, four days a week in her studio! She’s made 5 new pieces, embraced her love of portraiture… And confidently calls herself an artist (something she could not have done not that long ago!)

Before joining the Become Internationally Known program seven months ago, artist Heather Harbaugh’s inner critic was a giant bummer. Since starting the program, she’s made over 50 new ceramic pieces – many of which sold. One was featured in an online exhibition for emerging artists. She received three commissions for her “prophetic portrait” series, completed 10 new watercolour mediations and 6 intuitive/prophetic-inspired acrylic paintings.
